Rake, Rakeback, Bonuses and Freerolls

Three things the front page will not tell you: bonuses expire, rakeback points need manual redemption, and the advertised figure is a ceiling rather than a payout. Understand those, then look at how the system works.

The three usual traps

  • Bonuses expire

The matched deposit releases against rake over 90 days. Anything unreleased at the deadline is gone, and there is no extension.

  • Points need redeeming

Rakeback does not simply appear in your balance. Most tiers require a manual claim, and points have an expiry.

  • A ceiling is not a payout

“Up to US$600” is the maximum. What you get is min(deposit, 600) × the fraction you clear in time.

One calculation makes it obvious

Depositing US$600 and clearing the whole bonus requires US$3,000 in rake at US$1 per US$5. Over 90 days that is roughly US$33 a day — several hundred hands daily at NL25. If that is not your schedule, depositing US$600 just locks money in an account.

The cap is the parameter people ignore. At the same nominal 5%, a 3 BB cap and a 1 BB cap behave completely differently in high-frequency small pots — which is exactly why Rush & Cash suits volume accumulation.

Rakeback: Fish Buffet and Ocean Rewards

The name changed, the mechanism did not. Play → generate rake → earn points → climb tiers → convert points to cash, with the conversion rate improving as you climb.

Third-party tier tables published since the transition contradict each other. We list only what cross-checks, and label the rest. Before making a decision, open the rewards page in the client and read the thresholds attached to your own account.

Separately, Honeymoon for Newcomers runs 30 daily missions worth up to roughly US$350 in total, activated by pressing “Start Honeymoon” in the lobby after your first deposit. Missions refresh at 00:00 UTC and close at 23:59 UTC.

What the small print says

  • What voids a bonus: anything unreleased at the deadline expires automatically; account breaches (multiple accounts, account sharing, prohibited software) cancel promotions and can forfeit associated winnings.
  • Sticky or not: the matched bonus is released in increments rather than credited up front. Only the released portion is yours; the rest is not withdrawable.
  • What counts: rake and tournament fees advance the unlock. Freerolls generate no rake and therefore no progress.
  • Payment method exclusions: some promotions exclude particular methods — confirm on the promotions page (pending verification).
  • One account per person: duplicates sharing a person, device or IP are merged and the promotions cancelled.
Timezone conversion

23:59 UTC is 07:59 the next morning in Taipei and Hong Kong. A mission “closing today” actually closes tomorrow morning local time — a misreading that costs people missions every month.

Are freerolls worth playing

What works

  • Zero cost way to learn the tournament interface and structure
  • Occasional ticket prizes that roll into larger events
  • A safe place to test a new layout or hotkey configuration

What does not

  • Huge fields and tiny prize pools make hourly expectation negligible
  • Table quality is poor, and habits learned there lose money at real stakes
  • Most carry entry conditions — recent registration, tier, ticket or volume

The conclusion: treat freerolls as a practice room, not an income stream. If your goal is climbing rakeback tiers, ordinary cash tables are far more efficient.

Reward terms eat directly into your results

Rake caps, rakeback rates and bonus deadlines matter more than the sign-up headline. Compare those first.

Frequently asked questions

How is rake calculated?

Most cash formats take 5% with a stake-dependent cap. Rush & Cash uses the same 5% with a lower cap of roughly 0.5–1 BB. Most games apply “no flop, no drop” — nothing is taken when the pot ends before the flop.

Does Fish Buffet still exist?

Public reporting says Fish Buffet was replaced by Ocean Rewards in January 2026, with the underlying mechanic unchanged: earn points, climb tiers, convert points to cash. The old programme was documented as 25 tiers across eight levels paying from around 15% up to 60%; higher figures are claimed for Ocean Rewards. Read the thresholds in the client.

Does rakeback credit automatically?

No. Most tiers require you to redeem points manually, and points typically expire. Forgetting to redeem is the most common invisible loss in the whole system.

Can I collect the welcome bonus and rakeback at the same time?

Yes — they are separate mechanisms. The bonus unlocks against rake, rakeback accrues as points, and the same rake feeds both. But the bonus runs on a 90-day clock and points have their own expiry, so track them separately.

Are freerolls actually free?

The buy-in is zero, but there are usually entry conditions: recent registration, a tier requirement, a ticket, or prior volume. Fields are large and prize pools small, so hourly expectation is low. The value is in learning the format.

Do tournaments count as rake?

Tournaments charge an entry fee shown beside the buy-in — the $1 in “$10 + $1”. That fee counts toward loyalty accumulation in the same way.

How do I know whether chasing a tier is worth it?

Work out two numbers: the extra rake needed to reach the next tier, and the percentage gain multiplied by your expected future rake. If reaching it means playing stakes above your standard, the extra rakeback almost never covers what you lose at the table.
